Do you remember Bob Ross the famous painter who could just paint everything with a single wallpaper brush? Incredible! For all the Bob’s out there we have a local treat for you.

I had the chance to attend an ArtNight Session and talk to the local artist Sabina Freund who was also our guide throughout the evening. I found myself in this small French restaurant Le Bon Mroni in the middle of X-Berg surrounded by a long table full of brushes, canvases and tubes.

Theme of the night? Pastel colours! Finally I took the chance to re-discover my creative past. Under the wing of Sabina we tried to bring a flower-bouquet on our canvases only by putting small dots.

And the concept works! In 2016, Aimie-Sarah Hence and David Neisinger founded the event series ArtNight with the goal to bring creativity back to people and to connect them with each other. Making new friends, exchanging contacts or just paint together. In cooperation’s with bars, restaurants or other locations every event is changing the scene.

There is an event going on almost every night Berlin. Eight local artists all over the city take over the guidance and show different techniques or themes. Sabina is one of them - she always has been a creative person but to be able to live in Australia and for her grandpa’s wish to have a good education she decided to study International Business Management.

After 4 years living the Australian dream and another 1 year as a community manager she decided to become self-employed as a Photographer, Illustrator and as one of eight artists for ArtNight. Up to 5 days per week she shows how to paint Berlin’s Skyline, a Frida Kahlo or her favourite theme a “frenchie” a.ka. a French bulldog in neon colours.

“I love having a mixed audience around me and to show them that creativity can come in all possible ways.”

And Sabina is right, the audience is mixed up. Men as well as women from everywhere join the event series. And how to join is quite easy. Just check out their website choose your theme and your date and book a spot. ArtNight will provide everything what you will need.

Don’t think you will turn into a better version of Picasso after two hours of ArtNight but an inner feeling of happiness comes in when you look at your canvas creation – and taking home is included. In the meanwhile ArtNight rolled out in more cities by now.
